The overall photo is rich with symbolic elements that work to speak to the viewer on a deeper emotional level. Such as the overall thought behind this piece was the unspoken dark truth or reality, exploring the idea of conflict between perfection and horror/ illusion. The overall unattainable goal of perfection, being shown through the composition: centered, symmetrical utensils, tipped delicate tea cup, visually unsettled. The light through the warm and almost heavenly, cast strong shadows creating contrast, which can relate to the inner conflict. A hidden self conflict while there is still a glimmer of hope which is the rainbow being cased onto the photo. The pearls and the fake flowers work to symbolize the attempt to achieving perfection becoming "artificial." Such as the flowers something so pretty but also something that is very fragile and easily flammable. The image works to show the spilled contents are beautiful but messy, the symbols of composure (cutlery, tea set, clean linens) are the odd with the emotional flow. Exploring deeper society's expectations of perfection often only revealed through the messiness we try to hide.
