The three sculptures visually communicate Balance. While exploring the materials to build the sculptures, I wanted to focus on bringing non objective elements to life. Show balance because I believe with doing so it works to open a world where the viewers are able to connect to the work on a different level. I decided to include the idea of balance with elements such as string and paper, using these tools to bring power to the pieces. I felt the work was not producing the results I wanted with mainly focusing on one material more than the others so I decide to expand my ideas and create something new with some successful experiments. I want to keep exploring with working with the string by crocheting it into something new. I want to learn more about how when crocheted into different shapes how it may stretch or even take ink. This piece allowed me to explore my more abstract side of sculpture making while also pushing me out of my normal comfort zone. This allowed me to explore no only with materials but how they interact with one other. The making of this work exposed new ideas such as how to push different materials to an extent to communicate specific objectives such as balance.
